The Conch Republic Independence Celebration is pure island eccentricity, blending history, humor, and good old-fashioned fun. Expect cannon battles at sea, a long-standing bed race down Duval Street, whimsical parades, parties on the harbor, and more conch-blowing than you ever thought possible. This is not your average festival—it’s a Conch Republic tradition.

From the Royal Family Drag Races to the sea battle reenactment with schooners firing water cannons in Key West Harbor, this week is a must for anyone who loves a bit of island flair. Getting There from Boyd’s:
Most events take place in Old Town Key West, just 4 miles from the campground. That’s about a 10-minute drive, 20-minute bike ride, or an easy ride on the free Duval Loop bus. Parking can be tricky, so biking or bussing is highly recommended during peak festivities.
